What is V-Commute?
There are alternatives to driving alone.
V-Commute is a program of the Napa Valley Transportation Authority. Our goal is to relieve traffic congestion on roadways throughout our community, improve air quality through reduced emissions, and encourage more sustainable ways for all of our residents and visitors to get around this magnificent corner of the world.
By signing up for V-Commute and taking alternative trips (those other than driving alone), you’ll be eligible for regular rewards drawings and other commute incentives worth up to $500 per year.
Anyone who lives, works, or attends college in Napa County is eligible for V-Commute, and joining the program is always free.
How To Participate?
To sign up, simply follow the link below to create an account through the Ride Amigos platform. From there, enter your home and work address, and start logging your commutes.
You’ll also automatically be added to our regular email newsletter, which provides information about additional rewards, challenges, and ways to save money on your daily commute to work or school.
Employer-Based Commuter Tax Benefits
Bay Area Commuter Benefits
Bay Area employers with 50 or more employees are now required to register and offer commuter benefits to their employees in order to comply with the Bay Area Commuter Benefits Program. Some employers participate in V-Commute to meet this requirement, while others may provide additional commuter benefits on top of those available through V-Commute.
Federal Commuter Incentives
The Federal tax code also allows the use of tax-free dollars to pay for transit commuting and parking costs through employer-sponsored programs. Commuter tax benefits are regulated by the Internal Revenue Code, Section 132(f)—Qualified Transportation Fringe. The tax code allows tax-free transportation fringe benefits of up to $315 per month per employee for transit expenses and up to $315 per month for qualified parking . Talk to your employer for more information, or ask your Human Resources department to reach out to the V-Commute team.
