About the Project
Vine Transit is looking at ways to make getting around Napa County easier, with more reliable service and routes that work better for riders. As part of the Vine Short Range Transit Plan, the project will look at how transit services are performing today and identify ways to better meet everyday travel needs. Community feedback will help shape recommendations, so future service works better for riders, residents, and visitors.
This project will help guide Vine Transit service over the next ten years. Changes to routes, schedules, and stops could begin as early as Fall 2027 to make service work better for riders. Additional updates will be made through future scheduled service changes.
Project Goals
Engage with the Community: Public input is essential to shaping a transit system that works for everyone.
Respond to New Travel Patterns: As the region evolves, Vine Transit will change with it to meet the needs of residents, workers, and visitors.
Design a Connected Network: Local and regional services working together to get you to where you need to go efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Short Range Transit Plan?
A Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) is a planning document that provides a roadmap for the operation and improvement of a public transit system over the next several years. The plan evaluates existing transit services, identifies current and future transportation needs, and recommends strategies to improve service. Transit agencies periodically prepare SRTPs to support regional transportation planning and help guide future service and funding decisions.
What is a Comprehensive Operational Analysis?
A Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) is a big-picture evaluation of a transit system. The study helps us see what’s working, what isn’t, and how we can improve your ride. This project will analyze Vine’s current routes, schedules, and future growth in more detail to create a roadmap to future-ready transit service.
Why is the study needed?
Travel and commute patterns continue to change. The study will help transit remain reliable, efficient, and easy to use. The study will also help prepare for the future by exploring opportunities for expanded service with potential additional funding.
What areas will be evaluated?
The Vine service area includes Napa County and regional connections to Sonoma County, BART, and potentially Sonoma County.
How can I participate?
Your feedback is essential to each phase of the project. Share your feedback by taking our survey and talking with the project team at an upcoming pop-up event.
How will my feedback be used?
The study will balance community input and data to inform recommendations. Feedback from riders, residents, and other stakeholders like you will help identify transit priorities and potential improvements.
When will the project be complete?
The SRTP will be completed in Spring 2027, and the COA by the end of 2027. The first phase of service improvements will be implemented in August 2027.
